Authipay gateway for WooCommerce is now available

The Authipay gateway plugin for WooCommerce 1.6/2.0 has been released and is now available for purchase in our shop. This plugin will allow your shop to accept payments through the Authipay portal, which is managed by AIB (GB) Merchant Services, and supports most credit cards.

Note

It was brought to our attention that a similar plugin has been released yesterday (24/09/2013) on WooThemes website. We are not affiliated or related to that plugin, which is exclusively maintained by WooThemes. We won’t be able to provide support for the plugin purchased through their website.

Are the two Authipay plugins identical?

We didn’t have the chance to inspect the WooThemes plugin, but, based on the documentation, it seems that it also provides integration with Authipay Connect. However, Aelia Authipay Gateway brings a few advantages:

• GPL Licensing
  We don’t sell single site or multi-site licences. If you purchase our plugins, you are allowed to use it on as many sites as you like.
• Support for all Authipay modes
  Authipay can work in three modes, named PayOnly, PayPlus and FullPay. Aelia Authipay Gateway allows you to choose which mode you would like to enable on your site.
• Fully compatible with Currency Switcher
  We are the authors of the acclaimed Currency Switcher plugin, and we test our products to make sure that they work well together. Other plugins may work as well, but we don’t test them personally.
• Price
  Aelia Authipay Gateway is cheaper than the WooThemes one. This is due to the fact that we are a small business, and that, by selling directly to our customers, we don’t have to pay the high commissions charged by large marketplaces.

Bottom Line

If you are looking for a solution to add Authipay support to our site, we reckon that both our plugin and WooThemes’ one would work for you. Our First Data/Authipay Gateway has been updated to version 1.2.15.160215. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

• Fixed minor warnings in WooCommerce 2.5. The warnings were displayed on the payment page, and they did not affect the checkout process. However, they were unsightly.
• Dropped support for WooCommerce 1.6. There are virtually no shops running that old version of WooCommerce, therefore we decided to drop compatibility with it.

Our First Data/Authipay Gateway has been updated to version 1.4.0.171026. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

• Improved support for WooCommerce 3.x. We cleaned up the code, to leverage the new functions and features provided by WooCommerce 3.0 and later. This makes the gateway more compatible with future WooCommerce versions.
  Note: starting with this update, the First Data/Authipay plugin requires WooCommerce 3.0 or newer. Older versions are no longer supported.

First Data/AIB Authipay Gateway for WooCommerce is now available

A brand new product for WooCommerce is now available, the First Data/AIB Authipay Gateway for WooCommerce.

The First Data/AIB Authipay Gateway for WooCommerce replaced the obsolete Authipay Gateway we released last year. The new product is smaller, lighter and more stable, and it supports both First Data and AIB Authipay services.

What’s new in the product

We worked in collaboration with First Data, which is the provider behind Authipay service, to extend the plugin so that it could cover both services. We therefore redesigned its architecture to make it more flexible, and removed some of the core files that are now part of the Aelia Foundation Classes for WooCommerce.

The result is a lighter, simpler gateway, which retains the functionalities of the original one. The new payment gateway is also fully compatible with WooCommerce 2.2.

What are the requirements?

The requirements are almost the same of the previous gateway:

• An active First Data or Authipay Merchant account
• WordPress 3.6 or later
• PHP 5.3 or later
• WooCommerce 2.0.x/2.1.x/2.2.x
• Aelia Foundation Classes 1.0.11.140825 or later.

The only difference is the Aelia Foundation Classes plugin, which is shared by most of our products and just needs to be installed once.

How do I get the new First Data/Authipay Gateway?

Important update for WooCommerce First Data/AIB Authipay

The First Data/AIB Authipay Gateway for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.2.13.150211. This is an important update, which fixes an issue caused by version 2.3 of WooCommerce, which was released today.

What’s new?

The gateway has not changed much. Its features remain the same, and it will work as it has done until now. However, it’s important to update it as soon as possible, because in WooCommerce 2.3 they remove (without notice) some functions on which the plugin relied. As a result, the First Data/Authipay plugin will crash, unless it’s updated before upgrading WooCommerce.

If you plan to upgrade your system to WooCommerce 2.3, you should first update the First Data/AIB Authipay plugin to version 1.2.13.150211.

As with every WooCommerce update, we strongly recommend to install WooCommerce 2.3 on a test environment first, to ensure that all 3rd party plugins keep working as expected.
