Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been released

The Prices by Country for WooCommerce plugin is now available for purchase from our shop. By using it, you will be able to set a price for each product and for each region, thus charging different prices to different customers, depending on your needs. Add the Currency Switcher, to add support for multiple currencies, and your WooCommerce shop will be the most flexible you’ve ever had!

How to get the Prices by Country plugin

The pilot program, which is still running, keeps giving us great feedback that we will use to improve the product and extend its features and its compatibility with 3rd party plugins. Such program is now over, and the related discount is not officially available anymore. However, we will be happy to review further applications and approve them, depending on the type of site where the plugin will be used. Our target is to collect feedback from as many different configurations as we can, so that we can cover them. If you might be interested in applying for the pilot program, please contact us and we will send you further instructions.

Prices by Country for WooCommerce plugin is ready to go!

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been released

We are happy to announce that the Prices by Country for WooCommerce plugin completed its testing phase, and it’s now going to be made available to the customers who opted in to our early access program. We will run this pilot program for a short while, to gather valuable feedback from the participants and ensure the quality and stability of our product.

Plugin features

The Prices by Country plugin introduces the possibility to specify multiple prices for each product, and to apply them depending on customers’ country. The features can be summarised as follows:

• Support for regions. Countries are grouped into regions, so that it won’t be necessary to specify the same price for multiple countries.
• Supports prices for each region. Each product can be priced independently, for each region. For example, our products makes it possible to set a price for Europe, one for North America and one for Asia.
• Integration the Currency Switcher. The Prices by Country plugin is fully integrated with our Currency Switcher for WooCommerce. When both plugins are installed, it’s possible to specify one price for each region, in each of the enabled countries.

What are the requirements?

The requirements are the following:

• WordPress 3.6 or later.
• PHP 5.3 or later.
• WooCommerce 2.1.x/2.2.x.
• AFC plugin for WooCommerce 1.2.2.141023 or later.
• WooCommerce Currency Switcher 3.5.7.141030 or later. Optional, required only for multi-currency capabilities.

How to get the Prices by Country plugin

Customers who signed up for the early access program will receive their discount coupon shortly, and they will be able to buy the plugin directly from our site. The product will become publicly available as soon as we will complete our pilot program. Our target is to release it by the 24th of November 2014.

Prices by Country for WooCommerce hits RC1!

Our Prices by Country plugin is now in Release Candidate phase

Thanks to the experience earned with the development of our Currency Switcher for WooCommerce, we managed to implement support of prices by country for variable products. Variable products are some of the most complex to handle, and we had to run extensive tests to make sure that the product pricing logic is robust and consistent. It looks like we finally made it!

We had hoped to reach this beta stage last Saturday, but we got delayed after moving office. We also encountered some difficulties in making the plugin work both with and without the Currency Switcher, but we finally solved them.

What’s the progress?

The Prices by Country plugin reached version 1.1.0.141110-RC1. It currently supports simple products and variable products and it’s fully integrated with our Currency Switcher. For both product types is now possible to enter prices in multiple currencies, for multiple countries, and have the system pick the appropriate one seamlessly!

The space provided by WooCommerce UI is a bit limited, but we think we manage to create an intuitive interface anyway. What’s next?

Our next milestone will be adding support for grouped and external products. These features will mark RC2 phase of the plugin, which will then become available to the early adopters who expressed interest in helping us improving it before its public release.

Prices by Country for WooCommerce hit v1.0.5.141101-beta

As we anticipated a few weeks ago, we are making good progress with the Prices by Country plugin. We had hoped to reach this beta stage last Saturday, but we got delayed after moving office. We also encountered some difficulties in making the plugin work both with and without the Currency Switcher, but we finally solved them.

What’s the progress?

The Prices by Country v1.0.5.141101-beta fully supports simple products and it’s fully integrated with our Currency Switcher. The plugin can be used by itself, to specify prices in a single currency for multiple countries, or together with the Currency Switcher, to specify prices in multiple currencies for multiple countries. Flexibility at its best!

What’s next?

Our next milestone will be adding support for variable products. We hoped to have this done by the end of October, but our time travel skills are limited. We will focus our efforts to reach the next beta stage in November, adding full support for Variable Products. Prices by Country for WooCommerce – Status update

Two months ago today, we announced that we started working on a Prices by Country plugin for WooCommerce (yes, the name changed slightly, from “pricing” to “prices”). We had made a good progress, but we were delayed by the release of other products, such as the First Data/Authipay gateway, the Mijireh multi-currency gateway and the PayPal multi-account gateway. The early release of WooCommerce 2.2 also gave us some work to do, as we had to test all our products, to ensure compatibility with the latest version of the shopping cart.

We have now resumed working on the Prices by Country plugin, and we are happy to inform you that we already reached the first beta stage.

What’s in current beta of Prices by Country?

In its current version, the Prices by Country supports simple products and it’s fully integrated with our Currency Switcher. By using both plugins, it’s possible to set a product price in multiple currencies, and enter a separate set of prices for different country groups. What’s even better is that you can leave some prices empty for a country group, if you wish, and they will be automatically populated using the base prices. If you use multiple currencies, conversion will also be automatic. Full integration, full flexibility!

What’s next?

Our next milestone will be adding support for variable products. Due to their flexibility, they require a different approach, as well as a different interface. We are currently experimenting different solutions to see which one would be the most efficient and user friendly. Of course, the Prices by Country plugin will fully support multi-currency prices for variations, too!

When is the plugin due to be released?

We plan to hit the second beta stage by the end of next week (ending on the 24/10/2014), but, with a bit of luck, we could be able to reach it ahead of schedule. We cannot make an official commitment at this stage, as we are still in the middle of development.

• Improved Administration user interface
  • Ensured that region names are always populated. Required fields can no longer be left empty.
  • Added logic to remove invalid regions (i.e. the ones without a name or a list of countries).
• Improved fault tolerance. The plugin now handles the case in which the wc_aelia_cs_enabled_currencies filter returns an invalid list of enabled currencies. Prices by Country can now restrict sales per region

We have released an update for our WooCommerce Prices By Country plugin (one week ahead of schedule), with the new selective availability feature. The plugin now allows you to make products unavailable for specific regions, while leaving them available for other regions.

Rather than writing a long explanation on how this feature works, we prepared some screenshots that can quickly illustrate it.

Products’ regional availability

The feature is already included in the latest version of the Prices by Country plugin. Prices by Country plugin will support selective availability

Selective availability for products is coming!

We are extending our Prices by Country plugin for WooCommerce so that it will allow to make products unavailable for specific region. This new feature will finally allow shop owners to make some products available only to specific countries, while still allowing customers to buy other ones.

A creative use of this feature would be the creation of split and mixed catalogues. For example, a shop could be configured as follows:

• Product A, B, and C available to Europe.
• Product X, Y and Z available to the US and Canada.
• Product Common1, Common2 and Common3 available to all regions.

With such setup, visitors from Europe will see all Common products and products A, B and C, while visitors from the US and Canada would see all Common products and products X, Y and Z.

Another use of such feature would be restricting the sale of some products to customers within the European union, to avoid having to deal with the new EU VAT MOSS regulations. Simply configure a region containing all EU countries (except your own, if you live in the EU) and customers from the EU won’t be able to purchase the “unavailable” products. Of course, if you would rather become fully compliant, our free, premium WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant plugin can help!

• Improved performances. The Prices by Country plugin now uses cookies, rather than session variables, whenever possible. This change was made because we found out that, since WooCommerce 2.3, the handling of sessions is not optimal and can lead to performance issues. We also discovered that WooCommerce does not always clean up old sessions as it should, and that could cause a bloat of the database. By using cookies, the Prices by Country plugin will no longer be affected by those issues, and will perform consistently fast.

WooCommerce Prices by Country – What’s new

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.6.5.150811. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

• Fixed issue caused by new Variable Products logic in WooCommerce 2.4.3. The issue that affected our Currency Switcher, which we fixed in version 3.7.8.150810, also impacted on our Prices by Country plugin. The fix is the same, and it ensures that variations are loaded correctly and processed by our plugin, as required.
• Fixed bug in Edit Variations user interface in WooCommerce 2.4. The bug prevented the regions from collapsing and expanding when the product unavailability flag was clicked. The cause was the fact that, in WC 2.4, the rendering of the UI for variations is deferred using Ajax, while the original script provided by our plugin was fired  as soon as the page loaded. This caused our User Interface script to become unable to find the elements it was supposed to manipulate.

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.7.3.160730. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

• Improved compatibility with Bundles plugin. Fixed glitch in the Edit Product user interface, which was caused by a script included within the Bundles plugin. The script uses overly generic CSS selectors, which match the ones used you the UI elements introduced by the our plugin. The result was that product meta boxes were “mixed up” with other elements in the page.
  The issue must be fixed in the Bundles plugin itself, but we added a workaround that will allow our WooCommerce Prices by Country plugin to work correctly anyway.

Features and improvements

• Tested with WooCommerce 4.4 and WordPress 5.5.
• Feature – Improved support for manual orders. Added logic to load product prices based on the billing or shipping country set for the order.
• Feature – Improved integration with WooCommerce import/export features. The tool now shows dedicated columns to import and export the custom data from the Prices by Country plugin.
• Tweak – Added new filter `wc_aelia_pbc_filter_visible_products_hash`. The filter allows 3rd parties to use custom criteria to generate the cache key for the list of visible products.

• Fixed logic used to filter the product query when option “Filter invisible products from the catalogue query”, to reduce the possibility of conflicts.

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.6.14.151120. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

• Fixed bug related to visibility of variable products. Variable products are now hidden if the “hide unavailable products” option is checked and none of the variations is available.
• Fixed bug in Admin UI. The bug caused the regional pricing boxes not to expand and collapse when the “product unavailable for region” option was selected/deselected.

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.5.2.150601. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

• Improved user interface for Regions configuration. Added new Add all countries action to the page, so that it’s now possible to add all the countries in one click, rather than selecting them one by one.
• Added support for Subscriptions product. The plugin now allows to specify prices by country for simple and variable subscriptions.
• Increased priority of PricingManager::woocommerce_get_price() event handler. This should prevent conflicts with 3rd party plugins that try to alter the product price.
• Improved compatibility with WooCommerce 2.3. Fixed rendering of pricing UI for variable products.
• Fixed prefix of filters. Changed wc_aelia_pbs to wc_aelia_pbc.

A new product is coming – Prices by Country for WooCommerce

Our team is at it again. After releasing the Shipping Pricing for WooCommerce, which allows to specify shipping prices in multiple currencies, for multiple countries, we are now working on a new product.

Prices by Country for Woocommerce

This new plugin will allow you to charge difference prices to customers from different countries or geographic areas, and it will include full support the Currency Switcher. Using both, you will be able to charge different prices, depending on combinations of country and currency, with support for automatic geolocation resolution.

The plugin development just started today, but we already made good progress in laying the foundation of the plugin and in designing the user interface. Below you can find some “sneak peek” screenshots of the pages we have been working on so far:

WooCommerce 2.4.7 – Important changes in variable product prices

WooThemes just announced a change in the logic that WooCommerce uses to load the prices for variable products. The change, whose purpose is to fix possible issues related to the caching of incorrect product prices, can break compatibility with other plugin that rely on the existing logic. These changes are due to be added to of WooCommerce 2.4.7, which is due to be released on the 21st September 2015.

Which Aelia plugins are affected?

The change affects our Currency Switcher and our Prices by Country plugins. We are already at work to update our products and bring them up to speed with the new logic. We will release an update for both plugins in the next few days, so that you can install on your site before WooCommerce 2.4.7 becomes publicly available.

Important: you can install our updates as soon as they become available. As always, our plugins are fully backward compatible, and they will work with WooCommerce 2.4.6 and earlier.

Our other solutions, such as Shipping Pricing, Tax Display by Country and EU VAT Assistant will keep working correctly, they won’t need any modification.
