News for May 2014
It has been a while since the last update, but we can say that 2014 has been a great year for our customers.
In February, WooCommerce 2.1 was released. Unfortunately, such new release broke backward compatibility with several plugin, including ours. We worked hard to fix all the issues that were reported, and we are proud to say that we made it before the estimated deadline. For this, we would like to thank our customers, who helped us spotting issues occurring in edge cases, that we could not have easily found by ourselves.
In March we opened a new section in our shop, with a whole set of free add-ons for our flagship product, the Currency Switcher for WooCommerce. Amongst them, the highly requested integration with Product Add-ons plugin and, most importantly, the integration with the Subscriptions plugin. It has been challenging to develop them, but, finally, it’s now possible to have a fully integrated, multi-currency system to sell customised products and subscriptions in multiple currencies.
In April we released a brand new product, the Tax Display by Country plugin. Such plugin allows to configure how prices are displayed, depending on customer’s billing country. No more writing notes to explain customers who is going to pay taxes and who is not. The shop will now do the work for you, showing taxes only to those who are actually going to pay them. Best of all, it’s a set and forget system: a couple of minutes to configure it is all the time it will take you.
Also in April, we started the development of a Currency Switcher plugin for Easy Digital Downloads. The EDD community gave us enthusiastic feedback about it, and we can’t wait to release it. Our target is to implement all the features already found in the Currency Switcher for WooCommerce, including the manual pricing of products.
Finally, for the first four months of the year we received nothing short of enthusiastic, valuable feedback from our customers. Our products consistently get five star reviews and so does our support service. Our average first response time has been of 28 minutes, which, based on the emails received from our customers, places us among the companies with fastest support ever. We will make sure to continue on this track and offer the quality of service that our clients have come to expect from us.
In short, a rewarding, productive year so far, of which we can be proud. Unfortunately, there have been some “hiccups” that we now have to address. The main one has been the significant increase in running costs, due to several factors, such as markets instability and the weakness of the US Dollar. Also, we experienced an unexpected increase in frauds. We expected some level of fraud to occur when we started our business, but we thought that our money back guarantee would minimise it. Yet, it seems that some people are not just happy to get their money back and would rather cause some trouble on top of it.
Due to the above factors, we will be increasing the prices of some of our products and services from the 1st of June, 2014. Despite this, they will still remain some of the most competitive products on the market, and will be distributed under full GPL licence. No exorbitant “per site” licences with us!
Remember, you have the whole month of May 2014 to order our great products at current price and enjoy the excellent quality of service we offer. If your product licence is due to be renewed, please make sure to contact us and we will be happy to give a discount on the new purchase.
Thanks for your time, your trust and your support, and see you soon with more great news!
