WooCommerce 2.4.7 – Important changes in variable product prices

WooThemes just announced a change in the logic that WooCommerce uses to load the prices for variable products. The change, whose purpose is to fix possible issues related to the caching of incorrect product prices, can break compatibility with other plugin that rely on the existing logic. These changes are due to be added to of WooCommerce 2.4.7, which is due to be released on the 21st September 2015.

Which Aelia plugins are affected?

The change affects our Currency Switcher and our Prices by Country plugins. We are already at work to update our products and bring them up to speed with the new logic. We will release an update for both plugins in the next few days, so that you can install on your site before WooCommerce 2.4.7 becomes publicly available.

Important: you can install our updates as soon as they become available. As always, our plugins are fully backward compatible, and they will work with WooCommerce 2.4.6 and earlier.

Our other solutions, such as Shipping Pricing, Tax Display by Country and EU VAT Assistant will keep working correctly, they won’t need any modification.

WooCommerce Tax Display by Country – What’s new

The Tax Display by Country plugin for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.7.6.150828. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

  • Fixed “white screen” bug caused by WooCommerce 2.4 on cart and checkout pages. The bug was introduced by WooCommerce 2.4.x, and occurred in specific configurations when the “keep prices fixed” feature of the Tax Display by Country plugin was enabled. The result were intermittent errors on the cart and checkout pages, which did not refresh anymore when the customer changed the country.
    The root cause of such issue was an undocumented breaking change in the logic used by WooCommerce to load shop’s base location, which caused our plugin to go into an infinite loop.

WooCommerce Tax Display by Country – What’s new

The Tax Display by Country plugin for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.7.5.150824. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

  • Fixed bug caused by WooCommerce 2.4 on the checkout page. The same bug that affected our Currency Switcher also caused some issues on our Tax Display by Country. Due to the hidden breaking change introduced in WooCommerce 2.4, the Tax Display plugin could not detect the country change on the checkout page. The only side effect was that the country selector widget was not updated correctly (taxes are calculated by WooCommerce itself, therefore this bug did not affect them). We fixed this cosmetic issue, so that customers can get a more consistent user experience.

WooCommerce Prices by Country – What’s new

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.6.8.150824. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

  • Fixed bug caused by WooCommerce 2.4 on the checkout page. The same bug that affected our Currency Switcher had an impact on our Prices by Country plugin as well. In this case, since WooCommerce 2.4 prevented our plugin from detecting the country change at checkout, the product prices were not updated as expected. This new version fixes the issue.

WooCommerce Prices by Country – What’s new

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.6.7.150815. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

  • Fixed issue caused by the caching logic used to handle variations in WooCommerce 2.4.3. This is the same issue that affected variable products, and we noticed that impacted variable subscriptions as well. We applied the same fix, to make sure that variations are loaded correctly and processed by our plugin, without being affected by stale cached data.

WooCommerce Prices by Country – What’s new

Prices by Country for WooCommerce has been updated to version 1.6.5.150811. This update brings the following improvements and fixes:

  • Fixed issue caused by new Variable Products logic in WooCommerce 2.4.3. The issue that affected our Currency Switcher, which we fixed in version 3.7.8.150810, also impacted on our Prices by Country plugin. The fix is the same, and it ensures that variations are loaded correctly and processed by our plugin, as required.
  • Fixed bug in Edit Variations user interface in WooCommerce 2.4. The bug prevented the regions from collapsing and expanding when the product unavailability flag was clicked. The cause was the fact that, in WC 2.4, the rendering of the UI for variations is deferred using Ajax, while the original script provided by our plugin was fired  as soon as the page loaded. This caused our User Interface script to become unable to find the elements it was supposed to manipulate.
